Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines was established in September 2023 following the acquisition of IdealDrinks by The Fladgate Partnership Group, marking a new chapter in the company’s history.

The acquired company, which had been in business for 13 years, already enjoyed a remarkable reputation, recognised for its deep dedication to the world of wine and for producing wines of excellence capable of rivalling the renowned wine regions of Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy.

Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines is committed to continuing this challenge, adjusting its portfolio and internationalisation strategy, incorporating its vast experience and wisdom acquired over more than three centuries of winemaking tradition.

Colinas de São Lourenço, our flagship property, located in the small village of São Lourenço do Bairro, in the heart of Bairrada’s limestone fault line. This is perfect, dream terroir.

The property has 61 hectares of vineyards planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Arinto and Sauvignon Blanc.

Main focus is to produce the best possible grapes to be vinified into our iconic wines with the brand: Principal.

QUINTA DA PEDRA is one of the most historical properties in the Alto Minho region, dating back to the 17th century.

It is situated in the heart of Monção and Melgaço, a sub region of the Vinho Verde appellation, where Alvarinho excels.

The property has around 30ha of vineyards, planted at a higher density than what is usual in the region, and completely dry farmed. The vines, seated in very gentle valley, benefit from excellent granite soil and plain solar exposure for perfect ripeness.

Built as a residence intended for the leisure of Princes, Archbishops and the most illustrious aristocracy, PAÇO DE PALMEIRA is one of the most magnificent estates in the Minho region.

Currently with 19 hectares of vines (includes the new plantation) that benefit from the unique conditions of the site and rigorous viticulture, yielding the best grapes of the native variety Loureiro and creating wines that are immensely expressive and destinated for long ageing.

QUINTA DE BELLA is an extensive property of around 50 hectares in total and 23ha of vines, located at 380 metres in altitude.

The property benefits from its proximity to the Dão river. It has an excellent exposure and granite sand soils of high quality, also known as “rotten granite” or “noble granite”.

High density plantings combined with traditional sustainable viticulture, completely dry farmed, yields powerful, concentrated grapes, with plenty of flavour and minerality, that embodies wines of tantalizing aromas, texture and ageing potential.

It is also at Colinas de São Lourenço that the best Portuguese sparkling wines are made, exploiting our fabulous limestone soil and using the traditional method of Champagne and the same grape varieties.

These sparkling wines are branded as Colinas.

Quinta do Portal is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Portugal’s Douro Valley. It embraces a “Boutique Winery” approach, producing high-quality Douro wines, Port wines, fortified Moscatel, and olive oil. With roots dating back to the 19th century, the estate has been a leader in showcasing the Douro region’s potential for still wines since the early 1990s. Its vineyards span multiple estates, including Quinta dos Muros and Quinta da Abelheira, which operate with sustainable farming practices, such as vertical planting and organic amendments.

The estate also promotes wine tourism through its award-winning accommodations, Casa das Pipas and Casa do Lagar, and a renowned restaurant. Visitors can enjoy tastings, vineyard tours, and outdoor activities like hiking and biking amidst the stunning landscapes.
