Still & Sparkling Wines

Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines was created in September 2023, after the purchase of IdealDrinks by The Fladgate Partnership.

IdealDrinks was established in 2010 by a Portuguese businessman living abroad, who was passionate about wine. He decided to invest in Portugal and to embrace the challenge of producing wines of exceptional quality to rival those made in the classic wine regions in the world, namely Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy.

Fladgate Still & Sparkling Wines will continue this challenge, adding even further expertise, knowledge and over three centuries of heritage.

Principal Bairrada
Colinas de São Lourenço, our flagship property, located in the small village of São Lourenço do Bairro, in the heart of Bairrada’s limestone fault line. This is perfect, dream terroir.

The property has 61 hectares of vineyards planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Meunier, Chardonnay, Arinto and Sauvignon Blanc.

Main focus is to produce the best possible grapes to be vinified into our iconic wine: Principal.

Milagres Alvarinho
QUINTA DA PEDRA is one of the most historical properties in the Alto Minho region, dating back to the 17th century.

It is situated in the heart of Monção and Melgaço, a sub region of the Vinho Verde appellation, where Alvarinho excels.

The property has 53ha, completely dry farmed, benefiting from pure granite soils, with gentle slopes for drainage and a southwest exposure for perfect ripeness.

Built as a residence intended for the leisure of Princes, Archbishops and the most illustrious aristocracy, PAÇO DE PALMEIRA is one of the most magnificent estates in the Minho region.

Currently with 24 hectares, these vineyards benefit from the unique conditions of the site and rigorous viticulture, giving the best grapes of the native variety Loureiro and creating wines that are immensely expressive and destinated for long ageing.

Bella Dão
QUINTA DE BELLA is an extensive property of around 50 hectares located at approximately 380 metres in altitude.

The property benefits from its proximity to the Dão river. It has an excellent exposure and granite sand soils of high quality, also known as “rotten granite” or “noble granite”.

High density plantings combined with traditional sustainable viticulture, completely dry farmed, yields powerful, concentrated grapes, with plenty of flavour and minerality, that embodies wines of tantalizing aromas, texture and ageing potential.

Colinas Sparkling Wine
It is also at Colinas de São Lourenço that the best Portuguese sparkling wines are made, exploiting our fabulous limestone soil and using the traditional method of Champagne and the same grape varieties.

These sparkling wines are branded as Colinas.
